To start us off, we will explain HTML. The acronyms stand for Hypertext Markup Language. It contains tags that tell your browser where to display pages. The browser looks for html codes to display web pages. HTML documents should only be in text because html browsers can only understand text.  To use html in creating website templates, give a series of commands in form of tags like if you need the text in italics, you will only need to type <italics> to be italics text </italics>.  Use notepad, Wordpad or simple text to create your template and save it as text.

Java script, as the name suggests is a scripting language that is compatible with common browsers like Firefox, Internet explorer, Safari, chrome and opera. Because JavaScript add interactivity to HTML, you must have knowledge of HTML or XHTML before using JavaScript. When building website templates or websites, JavaScript is usually used alongside HTML. JavaScript offers numerous advantages to web builders including flexibility, interactivity, compatibility with web browsers and it is easy to use.

Another tool is the Photoshop software. This software is created by the Adobe Company and allows you to create advertisements, marketing pieces and logos. To use photoshop, you must have it installed in your computer. Install Photoshop CS3 or a higher version. Photoshop offers several advantages to both skilled and unskilled users. Among them including color change opportunities, touch ups for photos and the ability to work in layers.

Finally, Dreamweaver is a software tool that you can use to build your website templates. It allows you to preview websites with a local web browser.  While using Dreamweaver, you can view html pages during the development process and is easy to use. You can select different views while creating websites with Dreamweaver. There are code views, design views and a split view. Code view allows you to only see the html code page, design view shows how your html page will appear on the browser while split view enables you to see both the design and code views simultaneously.

While the above software tools will help you build your web templates, you can use other tools, including web tools like guestbook. However, the above four are the most common and utilized web building tools.
